Dr. Alison

Alison Holman, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Holman has been PI or co-PI on several community-based studies of coping with a variety of traumatic life events (e.g., firestorms, terrorism) funded by the National Science Foundation and the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation.  

Dr. Steven

Steven C. Cramer, M.D. is a Professor of Neurology and Anatomy & Neurobiology at UC Irvine. Dr. Cramer was Director of the Stroke Center at UC Irvine from 2004-2009. His research focuses on brain repair after central nervous system injury in humans, with an emphasis on recovery of function after stroke.  

Vanessa Juth, PhD, MPH

Vanessa Juth earned a Ph.D. in Health Psychology, as well as Masters degrees in Public Health and in Social Ecology from the University of California Irvine. She is currently a Research Scholar at the University of California Irvine and Children's Hospital of Orange County. Her research uses diverse methodologies (e.g., ambulatory momentary surveys and biomonitoring; laboratory assessments; panel data) to examine the ecological contexts underlying the mental and physical health of healthy individuals and patient populations in the context of stress and trauma in order to identify targets of intervention for preventing disease and fostering resilience.


Nina Chiu, BS

Nina Chiu is Clinical Research Coordinator for the STRONG Study. She is responsible for identifying potential patients and assists in managing the operations of the trial. She has been working on stroke-related clinical trials since 2013 as an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Steven Cramer's Lab at UC Irvine.

Nina holds a BS in Biological Science from the University of California, Irvine.


Fareshte Erani, BA

Fareshte Erani is a Junior Specialist for the STRONG Study. She is responsible for screening and enrolling potential patients, consenting, and completing Visit 1 examinations with eligible and interested participants of the STRONG study at the UCI Medical Center. She has been working as a stroke researcher and with acute brain injury since 2016.


Corinne Zalomek, BA

Corinne Zalomek is a Junior Specialist for the STRONG Study. Her role includes managing trial sites, preparing study materials and patient data entry.

Corinne graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Biochemistry and Biophysics.
